1. Nothing is shipped
Everything bought through boukd is one of three things: a booking of a person's time, a booking of a venue, or admission to an event. None of them involves despatching an item.
boukd holds no stock, operates no fulfilment centre, and does not arrange carriage. No third party ships anything to a customer on our behalf. Where a performer brings equipment to a booking, that is part of performing the booking, not a shipment.
2. What delivery means for each purchase
| What you bought | How it is delivered | When |
|---|---|---|
| A booking with a performer or service provider | In person at the agreed place, or online by video where the booking says so. Delivered when the agreed work is performed. | The date and time in the quotation |
| A venue booking | Access to the space for the agreed period. Delivered when the space is made available. | The date and time in the quotation |
| An event ticket | Issued electronically to the buyer's boukd account, immediately on payment. Delivered on issue, and used for admission on the day. | Immediately, and always within 1 hour |
| A donation | Nothing is delivered. It supports the operation of the platform. | Not applicable |
Every booking carries a date, a time, a duration and a location, agreed by both sides in the quotation before any money is paid. That quotation is the specification of what delivery means for that booking, and it is what we look at if either side later says delivery did not happen.
3. Event tickets
A ticket is issued to the buyer's boukd account as soon as payment settles, which is immediate for M-Pesa and card, and always within one hour. Each ticket carries a unique identifier and a scannable code, and is presented from the app at the door.
Tickets are transferable within boukd. A transfer moves the ticket to the recipient's account immediately and records the change, so the ticket that is scanned at the door is always traceable to the person holding it.
If a ticket does not appear in your account after payment, contact us and we will either issue it or refund you the same day. You are never asked to pay twice.
4. How delivery is evidenced
Each booking has a timeline recording, with timestamps, when the quotation was issued, when it was accepted, when the Hold was funded, when the booking was marked complete, and when the money was released. Messages between the parties are attached to the same booking.
This record is what we produce if a payment is queried or a chargeback is raised, and it is why we ask both parties to confirm completion in the app rather than agreeing it verbally.
For tickets, the record includes the time of issue and, where the ticket was used, the time and place it was scanned.
5. When delivery does not happen
If the booking does not happen, or happens materially differently from what was agreed, the booker gets their money back. The full position, including the time limits and how partial refunds are worked out, is in the Refunds, Cancellations and Disputes Policy.
In summary: no show means a full refund; part delivered means a proportionate refund; and money is never released to a bookable who did not do the work.
6. Where we operate
boukd operates in Kenya. Bookings are performed at the location agreed between the parties, which is stated in the quotation, or online by video where the booking is remote. Payments settle in Kenyan shillings.
An online booking can be delivered anywhere, since it needs only a connection. An in-person booking happens where the parties agreed, and a bookable is under no obligation to travel beyond the area listed on their profile.
